Scope
We interpret for attorneys and legal teams, including:
- Attorney-client meetings, in the office or by video
- Legal visits at federal and local detention facilities
- Review of plea agreements, presentence reports, and discovery with the client
- Witness and family interviews, including mitigation interviews
- Calls with family members and treatment or program providers
Experience
We have been engaged on an ad hoc basis by CJA-appointed defense counsel, as an outside service provider under the Criminal Justice Act (CJA), on matters in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. That work was arranged through counsel; it is not a court classification, certification, or approval.
Formats
- In person, by video (Zoom, Webex, Teams), or by phone.
- Half-day and full-day engagements; when case materials are provided in advance, we review the terminology before the session.
Engagement model
We accept engagements from attorneys, law firms, and agencies. We quote rates per engagement after a brief intake and state cancellation terms in the confirmation. CJA-appointed counsel can engage us as an outside service; payment follows the authorization and voucher process that counsel arranges.
